The rhino’s horn is not a real horn. It’s actually thick matted hair containing keratin. The same chemical make up as your finger nail.
The rhino has lost 90% of its brothers and sisters since 1979. The northern white Rhino is now one of the most endangered animals in the world and on last count only 10 could be found. That’s really sad!
Rhinos usually feed at night and swim or bath in mud during the day to keep cool…sounds like heaven!

There are 5 species of Rhinoceros. These are the White, Black, Sumatran, Javan and Indian. The Indian Rhino has one horn mounted on its snout while the other 4 proudly display two. They all carry their big leathery bodies with stumpy legs and love to wee to mark out their territory….don’t get too close!

Up to 1.8 meters (6 ft) and can measure up to 4 meters (13 ft) long.
Weight:
Up to 2,500 kg (5511 lbs).
Where they live:
Rainforests and Deserts of Africa and South East Asia.
What they eat:
Grass, roots shoots and shrubs. Otherwise known as the ‘bushy diet’!
