Characteristics:

A roo looks like an overgrown mouse perched up on its back legs.  These strong hind legs and long trunk-like tail help the roo to be the best long jumper in the world clearing distances of over 13 metres (44 feet). The grey roo is the most common, the Big Red is the largest and the Rock Wallaby is the smallest. All being marsupials, the mother roo carries her young joey in a pouch. This is kind of like a portable sleeping bag.

Height:

Up to 2 meters(78ins) tall for the big red.

Weight:

Up to 135kg (298lbs). That’s a heavy hopper!

Where they live:

All over Australia and in some parts of Papua New Guinea.

What they eat:

Grass and leaves.
