The hippo can get sun burnt and crack if he doesn’t regularly go for a dip in the water. This also helps him to develop mucus which covers his body to protect him from the sun. This is the hippo’s equivalent to SPF 30 Sun cream.
The hippo babies are born under water.
Hippopotamus’ love to body surf. A number of hippo’s charge towards the shore from the water which creates a mini wave. The hippo will then cruise on the momentum of the wave or mini wave. I wonder how they would go in Hawaii’s’ pipeline?

The hippopotamus is an amphibious animal. What does that mean? It means he lives in the water as much as he lives on the land. He has two huge teeth mounted on the bottom jaw of his massive mouth which give him his ‘just say cheese look’ when he has his picture taken.
Height:
A shave less than 1.80 meters or 6ft in height, the hippo is more recognized for its length of body at 2.7 meters, that is 9ft. It almost has the dimensions of a mini bus.
Weight:
Hippo weighs up to 1.5 tonnes. That is nearly the weight of a mini bus!
Where they live:
In sub-Saharan Africa.
What they eat:
They eat grass that grows around their water habitat.
