The elephant has an inbuilt cooling device. He just flaps his ears to reduce his body heat.
The male elephant can weigh up to two times more than the female.
Sometimes the elephant will eat mineral enriched soil (dirt) as a dietary supplement. Yik!

The elephant is the largest land roaming animal. It has a really long nose called a trunk and big tusks which sit each side of his mouth. An elephants other trade marks are its big floppy ears and trumpet like sound it makes to communicate.
Height:
Elephant can be as tall as 3.6 meters (12ft) and as long as 5 meters (16ft). This would make him a star Basketball, Rugby or Grid Iron player on his dimensions alone.
Weight:
He’s the heaviest of all land animals at 7 tonne. No chair for him at dinner!
Where they live:
In Africa and Asia. They love the grassy wetlands, deserts and tropical forests.
What they eat:
Elephants feed for up to 20 hours a day on mainly grasses, fruits and leaves. If you were to have him over for dinner, you would need a supermarket for a kitchen because this guy can eat!
